Radio Transmitters, Telephone Devices & the law

Please note that we no longer sell FM bugs and transmitters to customers based in the EU as it is against the law. If you live outside the EU please check local laws before ordering this type of product.

It is legal to buy, sell, posses, and build electronic bugging, surveillance and radio transmitting equipment in the UK. It is however ILLEGAL to operate such equipment under a number of areas of law.

Firstly, it is against the law to transmit a radio signal without an appropriate license or with equipment that is not approved for use in the UK by Ofcom. All of the surveillance and radio transmitters that we sell (both room and telephone bugs) have NOT been approved by the Ofcom. The Ofcom will NOT grant licenses for this type of equipment.

Secondly, it is against the law to connect unapproved equipment to any telecommunication system or installation regardless of whether it is a BT, cable operator or any other organisations system. The telephone devices and circuit plans for such devices sold by Quasar Electronics are NOT approved for connection to any telecommunication system or installation.

Quasar Electronics Limited, it's shareholders, Directors, and employees accept no responsibility whatsoever for any consequences arising from the use or misuse of unlicensed or unapproved equipment.

Thirdly, it is against the law to listen to or record other peoples conversations without their explicit permission. This means activities like electronic surveillance, eavesdropping and industrial espionage. It is safe to say that if you are caught undertaking these activities you could face severe legal redress resulting in fines or even imprisonment.

The electronic surveillance products sold by Quasar Electronics Limited, whether in kit form, ready assembled or published as circuit plans, are intended for educational, experimental and information use only. Quasar Electronics Limited, it's shareholders, Directors, and employees accept no responsibility whatsoever for any consequences arising from the use or misuse of electronic surveillance products. It is your responsibility not to break the law.

If you live outside the UK we suggest that you check local laws before operating or purchasing surveillance equipment. Again, it is your responsibility not to break the law.
