3073 - Giant LED Clock (12/24 Hour)
This
12/24 hour digital clock uses four giant 70mm high x 48mm wide LED display
segments for the hours and minutes (the actual figures displayed are 58mm
x 40mm). It can operate in either 12 or 24 hour mode. A PIC microcontroller
plus a time adjustment mode control the clock to an accuracy of within a
few seconds a year.
The circuit incorporates a dimming feature that automatically dims the
display at night. Daylight Saving time is easily set without affecting the
minutes and seconds settings.
The PIC is supplied pre-programmed and the complete, fully commented,
software code used is also available for you to study and learn from. This
kit makes an excellent introduction to using and programming microcontrollers.
The clock is built on two PCBs that sit one on top of the other.
